TruCheck Tests now available at Linbury Doctors

Here at Linbury Doctors and Linbury Clinics, we’re now offering TruCheck blood tests. These simple tests help to detect cancer early before symptoms show, and therefore improve chances of recovery. We can test for a range of different forms of cancer, including breast and prostate.

Read on to discover why screening is important, who TruCheck is suitable for, and how it works.

To book your TruCheck test, please contact us on 0333 050 7338 or contact your private GP directly.

Why is cancer screening important?

1 in 2 people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Currently, almost half of them are diagnosed after the cancer has spread. This is because some forms of cancer don’t present any symptoms in its early stages. Most of the time, we only become aware of it at later stages, once it has spread and therefore started to cause symptoms.

TruCheck is a revolutionary blood test which will look for multiple different cancers that are not covered in routine screening. It detects cancerous cells before any symptoms occur.

How does TruCheck work?

When it is present, cancer sheds cells and fragments into the bloodstream. These cells are called circulating tumour cells (CTCs) and are the main reason cancer spreads to other parts of the body.

TruCheck can detect CTCs from a blood sample, and indicate the likely organ of origin. Using this information, we can then follow-up with further testing in targeted areas.

TruCheck will detect the cancers it screens for 95% of the time.

How long will it take to get my results?

Once your sample is sent off, your doctor will receive your results within two weeks. We will notify you as soon as your results come in.

Which cancers can TruCheck test for?

TruCheck Intelli can find over 70 types of cancers, including breast, lung, bowel and prostate.

We also offer TruCheck Breast, and TruCheck Prostate tests for a more specific approach to screening. These are useful for those who are at higher risk to these cancers due to family history.

How do I book a TruCheck test?

If you are a member of Linbury Doctors, we advise speaking to your named GP to find out if this test is suitable for you. TruCheck is designed for people who are not experiencing any symptoms and have not had cancer before. These tests can be performed as part of a yearly check-up, should your doctor feel this necessary. They do not replace conventional cancer screening. If you’d like to book an appointment to discuss TruCheck with your Doctor, you can contact them directly or call our practice line on 0333 050 7338. Your GP will be more than happy to talk through your options.

You can find out more about our membership packages here.

If you are worried about any symptoms you may be experiencing, please contact your GP immediately.
